Thenard first formulated hydrogen peroxide in 1818. It’s a colorless liquid with a bitter taste at room temperature. Naturally, small quantities of gaseous hydrogen peroxide happen in the atmosphere. Hydrogen peroxide is volatile and easily decomposes with heat discharge to oxygen and water. Although it is non-flammable, it is a strong oxidizing agent that in touch with organic material can trigger spontaneous combustion.
